JAMESTOWN, NY – On Sunday, July 20, 2025, at approximately 4:25 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s third platoon conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 8th Street and Liberty Street for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
During the stop, officers identified the occupants as 31-year-old Russell S. Sims and 29-year-old Sharriah L. Funkhouser, both residents of Jamestown. Upon further investigation, police discovered approximately 13.7 grams of fentanyl, 6.7 grams of cocaine, ecstasy, a digital scale, and individual packaging materials—items commonly associated with the sale of illegal narcotics.
Both Sims and Funkhouser were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Each faces four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Intent to Sell) and two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree. In addition to the drug charges, Funkhouser received a traffic citation related to the initial stop.
The suspects are currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
