Police respond to early morning call for unwanted male, resulting in multiple drug possession charges.
(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY — A 33-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody early Sunday morning following a brief foot pursuit and the discovery of a significant quantity of illegal narcotics.
On July 20, 2025, at approximately 6:22 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s third platoon responded to a report of an unwanted male at a residence on the city’s north side. The subject, identified as Dylan M. Abbey, was known to have active arrest warrants issued by Jamestown City Court.
As officers attempted to make contact, Abbey fled on foot. He was apprehended shortly afterward and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
During the arrest, officers found Abbey in possession of approximately 42.8 grams of methamphetamine and 1.6 grams of fentanyl. He was subsequently charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Class B Felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree (Class C Felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)
Abbey was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
