(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in Olean led to the arrest of two women early Thursday morning on multiple drug and weapon charges.
OLEAN, NY — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reports that a traffic stop on North 12th Street in Olean resulted in the arrest of two individuals for drug possession and related offenses in the early hours of Thursday, July 24, 2025.
According to Sheriff Eric A. Butler, deputies initiated the stop at approximately 2:00 a.m. due to multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. During the interaction, deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
When the occupants exited the vehicle, a clear plastic bag containing suspected crack cocaine allegedly fell from the shorts of Heather M. Chase, 33, of Olean. A search of the vehicle and its occupants revealed further contraband.
Noelle R. Coen, 26, of Franklinville, was found in possession of approximately 15.13 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, a quantity of crack cocaine, drug packaging materials, a digital scale, and a switchblade knife. Chase was allegedly found with approximately 11.49 grams of suspected psilocybin and 2.68 grams of crack cocaine.
Both individuals were transported to the Sheriff’s Office substation in Olean for processing and later arraigned in the City of Olean Court.
Coen was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree
- Two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree (packaging and scales)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree
- Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign
- Signal Violation
Chase was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree
Both suspects were released under supervision and are scheduled to appear in City of Olean Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
