(WNY News Now) – A Portland man is facing multiple charges following an altercation in the Village of Brocton on the evening of July 25.

BROCTON, NY – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported altercation on Lake Avenue in the Village of Brocton at approximately 6:06 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Jake A. Test of Portland, had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Following an on-scene investigation, deputies were able to locate Test at a nearby residence, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Test was transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Program (CAP).

He is charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Harassment in the Second Degree.

Test is scheduled to appear in the Town of Portland Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
