Police apprehend suspect with active felony warrant following suspicious incident involving reported firearms.

(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 45-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody following a suspicious situation involving reports of a heated argument and alleged firearms near American Place and Fulton Street on the morning of July 30, 2025.

At approximately 9:53 a.m., Jamestown Police First Platoon officers responded to the area after receiving reports that three males were arguing and allegedly pointing handguns at one another. Upon arrival, officers observed one male fleeing behind nearby residences.

The suspect, identified as Terrence M. McRae, was quickly recognized by officers as having an active felony warrant issued by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant stemmed from a charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Firearm – Previous Conviction).

McRae was located and arrested without further incident. He was initially transported to the Jamestown City Jail to address a separate Petit Larceny warrant. Following booking, McRae was transferred to the Chautauqua County Jail and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
