(WNY News Now) – A Cattaraugus man is facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting a victim with a baseball bat during a domestic dispute.
CATTARAUGUS, NY — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 61-year-old man following a domestic incident that occurred on Waverly Street in the Village of Cattaraugus on the evening of August 1, 2025.
According to Sheriff Eric A. Butler, deputies responded to the scene at approximately 9:36 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic dispute involving a weapon. Upon arrival and further investigation, deputies determined that Christopher F. DeMartino had allegedly struck another individual with a baseball bat, causing the victim to fear serious physical injury.
DeMartino was taken into custody and charged with attempted assault in the second degree, a felony, and menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor. He was subsequently arraigned in the Town of New Albion Court.
DeMartino is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
