(WNY News Now) – Early Sunday morning, deputies arrested a Hamburg woman for driving while ability impaired by drugs following a speeding traffic stop in Sheridan.

On August 10, 2025, at approximately 3:31 a.m., deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for speeding in a 55 mph zone on a town road in Sheridan. The driver, 20-year-old Shainne R. Erickson of Hamburg, New York, was identified as operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs.

During the stop, deputies also observed consumption of alcohol in the vehicle. Erickson was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs (DWAI), speeding, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Erickson was arrested at the scene and later released with appearance tickets to appear in court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
