(WNY News Now) – HANOVER, N.Y. – A Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office traffic stop in Sunset Bay late Friday night resulted in the arrest of a Hanover man on multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated.
According to deputies, the incident occurred on August 8, 2025, at approximately 11:22 p.m., when a vehicle was stopped in Sunset Bay for suspected violations. The driver, identified as 59-year-old Thomas P. Miranda of Hanover, was allegedly operating an unregistered motor vehicle, consuming alcohol inside the vehicle, and not wearing a seat belt.
Deputies determined Miranda was intoxicated and took him into custody. He was transported to the Sheriff’s substation in Hanover for processing before being released with appearance tickets.
Miranda is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hanover Court on the charges of driving while intoxicated, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and failure to wear a seat belt. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
