(WNY News Now) – A Clymer man faces multiple charges including aggravated DWI, criminal weapon possession, and reckless driving after fleeing police and becoming stuck on a farm road in French Creek early Sunday morning.
On August 10, 2025, at approximately 12:16 a.m., a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a Utility Task Vehicle traveling at a high speed on a public highway in French Creek, NY. When the deputy activated emergency lights to initiate a stop, the vehicle failed to comply and fled, traveling through several roads before entering an industrial farm area.
The vehicle continued on dirt roads within the farm until it became stuck. The operator was detained without further incident. Upon inspection, deputies discovered an unregistered pistol inside the vehicle, equipped with a high-capacity magazine.
Following investigation, the operator was identified as 28-year-old Denton Holthouse of Clymer, NY. Authorities determined Holthouse was driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration above .18, operating on a suspended driver’s license, and fleeing law enforcement.
Holthouse was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree, Aggravated DWI, DWI, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, and several vehicle and traffic violations.
He was transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for processing and held at the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment. Holthouse is scheduled to appear in Town of French Creek Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
