(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 29-year-old Jamestown man was arrested Wednesday morning after officers discovered he had an outstanding arrest warrant and was in possession of a controlled substance.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers on routine patrol at the intersection of E. 5th Street and Fulton Street observed Zachary A. Graves traveling east on E. 5th Street around 10:16 a.m. Officers confirmed Graves had an active petit larceny warrant out of Jamestown and took him into custody without incident.

During a search incident to the arrest, officers found Graves in possession of hydrocodone, a controlled substance. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree in addition to the original petit larceny warrant.

Graves was transported to the Jamestown city jail, booked, and released on an appearance ticket in accordance with New York State bail reform guidelines. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
