(WNY News Now) – OLEAN, N.Y. – A traffic stop conducted by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office in Olean early Friday morning resulted in the arrest of a Pennsylvania man on felony drug charges.
According to Sheriff Eric A. Butler, deputies stopped a vehicle on South 11th Street in Olean on August 15, 2025, at approximately 3:56 a.m. for traffic law violations. During the stop, deputies reported observing drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle and passenger, identified as Shane F. Easton, 39, of Bradford, Pennsylvania, led to the discovery of approximately 10.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a red scale containing residue, along with additional drug-related items.
Easton was taken into custody and transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Olean Substation for processing. He was later arraigned in Olean City Court on the following charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree
- Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree
Following arraignment, Easton was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Olean City Court at a later date for further proceedings. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
