(WNY News Now) – A Fredonia man is facing multiple charges after deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident in Pomfret early Sunday morning.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a single-vehicle accident on Chautauqua Road in the Town of Pomfret at approximately 12:33 a.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Dakota M. Couchman of Fredonia, was found to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Following an investigation, Couchman was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher, and Unsafe Backing.
He was released and is scheduled to appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date to answer to the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
