(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown man was taken into custody after a street check on the city’s west side led to his arrest on drug charges and an outstanding warrant.

According to police, on August 25, 2025, at approximately 9:02 a.m., officers observed 36-year-old Jaysen Galarza-Santos standing on the corner of Newland Avenue and Forest Avenue. Officers were aware that Galarza-Santos had an active warrant issued by the Lakewood-Busti Police Department.

He was taken into custody, and during a search incident to the arrest, officers reported finding illegal drugs in his possession. Galarza-Santos was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third, fourth, and seventh degrees.

In addition to the new charges, he was held on a detainer related to the warrant out of Lakewood-Busti. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court for further proceedings. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  5. City of Jamestown… 5th most dangerous city to live in in New York State… Crime rate over double the National average and over a $14 million dollar. They must have an incredible memory for how many people they tack more charges on that they allegedly had warrants. Probably they violated his civil rights to search him and discovered the rest after. Hopefully he has a good attorney that gets bodycam dash cam footage and sees what really happened
