(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Jamestown Police Department is investigating a homicide following a suspicious incident reported early Friday morning on West Fourth Street.

According to police, officers responded to the scene at approximately 4:54 a.m. on September 12, 2025. By midday, authorities confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide and that a suspect has been detained. Officials emphasized that there is no known elevated risk to the public at this time.

The investigation is ongoing with assistance from multiple agencies, including the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Chautauqua County Forensic Investigation Team, New York State Police, Ellicott Police Department, and the Chautauqua County Coroner’s Office.

Police said further details will be released as the case develops.
