(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown woman was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after police conducted a street check on the city’s northside.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd Platoon observed 37-year-old Dioscelin E. Rodriguez near East 6th Street and Fulton Street at about 2:38 a.m. on September 24, 2025. Police said Rodriguez, a frequent absconder, was known to have an active warrant for her arrest.

When officers attempted to approach her, Rodriguez reportedly fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, she was apprehended and taken into custody. During the arrest, police said she was found in possession of a quantity of fentanyl.

While being transported to the Jamestown City Jail, Rodriguez allegedly attempted to discard fentanyl in the back of a patrol car. She was subsequently charged with resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, tampering with physical evidence, and the outstanding warrant.

Rodriguez was held pending her arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
