Jamestown police arrested a 25-year-old resident after an armed robbery involving a machete on Thursday evening.
(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — On September 25, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the Jamestown Police Department’s Second Platoon responded to a robbery complaint on the city’s north side.
According to police, the victim reported that her bag was forcibly taken by a white male suspect identified as William R. Gardner, 25, of Jamestown. Investigators determined that during the robbery, Gardner allegedly brandished a small machete and swung it toward the victim before fleeing the scene on foot. Police also reported that the victim’s phone was intentionally damaged during the incident.
Officers later located Gardner at his residence and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
Gardner faces multiple charges, including first-degree robbery, second-degree menacing, and fourth-degree criminal mischief. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
