Deputies say a 42-year-old Clymer resident intentionally damaged a vehicle and violated a court order, leading to his arrest.
(WNY News Now) – Clymer, NY – A Clymer man was taken into custody following a criminal mischief investigation that began on the afternoon of September 27, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a residence in Clymer around 4:28 p.m. for a reported incident of criminal mischief. Upon arrival, deputies observed damage to the windshield of a motor vehicle. An investigation determined that William A. Suroviec, 42, of Clymer, had intentionally damaged the windshield of a vehicle that did not belong to him.
Authorities further learned that Suroviec had violated a court mandate during the incident, leading to an additional charge of criminal contempt in the second degree. Deputies say Suroviec fled the scene before law enforcement could make contact.
A warrant was issued by the Town of Clymer court for his arrest. With assistance from the Jamestown Police Department, deputies located and arrested Suroviec around 1:15 a.m. on September 28.
He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail to await arraignment through the county’s Centralized Arraignment Program.
Suroviec faces charges of criminal mischief in the third degree and criminal contempt in the second degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
