(WNY News Now) – SALAMANCA, N.Y. — An 18-year-old Salamanca resident was arrested late Thursday night after allegedly driving while intoxicated and crashing into a utility pole in the City of Salamanca.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:41 p.m. on October 2, 2025, when patrol deputies responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident. Deputies found that the vehicle had struck a utility pole.

The driver, identified as Layne Reisdorf, 18, of Salamanca, was taken into custody following a roadside investigation. Deputies reported that Reisdorf refused all field sobriety and chemical testing at the scene.

Reisdorf was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving on the shoulder, moving from a lane unsafely, and speed not reasonable and prudent.

Following the arrest, Reisdorf was turned over to the custody of the Salamanca Police Department to be held for arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
