(WNY News Now) – LEON, N.Y. — A Randolph man was arrested early Sunday morning on an active bench warrant and later released following arraignment, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies reported that Robert C. Johnston, 34, of Randolph, was taken into custody around 2:35 a.m. on October 5, 2025, after being turned over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office by the New York State Police. The arrest stemmed from an active bench warrant issued by Leon Town Court.

Following his arrest, Johnston was processed and transported to Persia Town Court, where he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Leon Town Court at a later date to address the pending matter. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
