(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Brocton man faces multiple charges following a traffic stop early Thursday morning that led to a DWAI and drug possession arrest on Jamestown’s northside.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers on the 3rd Platoon observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction near North Main Street and West 7th Street around 2:16 a.m. on October 9. Police conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Steven J. Seavy, 34, of Brocton.

During the investigation, officers determined that Seavy was allegedly operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. A further search revealed that he was in possession of a large quantity of Methylphenidate tablets, a controlled substance, as well as methamphetamine and Buprenorphine/Naloxone sublingual films.

Seavy was taken to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Felony), and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

He was later released on tickets and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
