(WNY News Now) – Jamestown Police arrested a 24-year-old man Friday morning after he was found hiding inside an apartment in violation of a court-issued Order of Protection.

JAMESTOWN — On Friday, October 17, 2025, at approximately 8:38 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a residence on the city’s south side for a report of an unwanted person.

Upon arrival, officers conducted an investigation and determined that the individual inside the apartment, identified as Robert G. Gilbert, 24, of Jamestown, was violating an active Order of Protection. Officers entered the apartment and located Gilbert hiding inside a closet.

Gilbert was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

According to police, Gilbert was charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a felony, due to a prior conviction for Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree just 11 days earlier.
