(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown woman was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon following a shoplifting complaint on the city’s northside, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

On October 22, 2025, at approximately 3:10 p.m., officers from the Second Platoon responded to a report of a theft in progress. Police say 53-year-old Cinnamon Swanson, a resident of Jamestown, allegedly attempted to conceal multiple items of merchandise inside her bag and left the store without paying.

Store employees stopped Swanson after she passed all points of purchase. Officers determined she had been in possession of $51.68 worth of unpaid merchandise. Swanson was arrested at the scene and charged with Petit Larceny.

She was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where she is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
