(WNY News Now) – SHERMAN, N.Y. — A Fredonia man was arrested early Saturday morning after a traffic stop in the Village of Sherman led to a drunk driving charge, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Park Street around 1:48 a.m. on November 1 after observing a vehicle with inadequate lighting. The driver was identified as 23-year-old Zavon T. Overton of Fredonia.
Following an investigation, deputies determined that Overton was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, and No/Inadequate Lights.
Overton was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in Sherman Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
