(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A warrant check in the Town of Ellicott resulted in the arrest of a Celoron man who now faces two felony weapon charges.

Town of Ellicott Police reported that on November 15, 2025, at 12:23 p.m., officers located 51-year-old Samuel Melice Jr. during a warrant check related to an outstanding warrant issued by the Lakewood-Busti Police Department. Melice was taken into custody without incident.

According to police, further investigation revealed that Melice was allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm equipped with a large-capacity feeding device. As a result, he was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.

Melice was issued an appearance ticket and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
