(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A Jamestown man is facing multiple charges after Town of Ellicott Police responded to a reported larceny at the Budget Inn on November 24.

Town of Ellicott Police say officers were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. for a complaint involving items allegedly taken from the motel during a tenant’s move-out. According to the report, 38-year-old Shawn A. Sobczak was accused of removing property belonging to the business.

Police located Sobczak a short time later and recovered the items. During further investigation, officers say they also found an amount of suspected methamphetamine on his person. Sobczak was subsequently charged with Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
