(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown resident was charged with petit larceny after police responded to a reported shoplifting incident at a Northside business early Tuesday morning.

Jamestown Police responded to a Northside business at approximately 7:43 a.m. on January 20, 2026, following a report of shoplifting.

According to police, store staff reported that a male suspect had taken two steaks from the business without paying. Officers from the First Platoon located the suspect a short distance from the store and identified him as Joshua M. Ross, 37, of Jamestown.

Ross was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He was charged with petit larceny and later arraigned in Jamestown City Court.

Following arraignment, Ross was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
