(WNY News Now) – A 24-year-old Jamestown resident faces felony and traffic charges following a vehicle stop conducted by Town of Ellicott Police on February 4, 2026.

ELLICOTT, N.Y. — Anthony C. Cooley, 24, of Jamestown, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree and multiple traffic violations after a vehicle and traffic stop in the Town of Ellicott.

According to the Town of Ellicott Police Department, officers conducted the stop as part of a vehicle and traffic enforcement investigation.

Police allege that Cooley was operating a motor vehicle that was not registered and not insured. Authorities also reported that the vehicle displayed improper license plates.

Following further investigation, officers determined that the license plate affixed to the vehicle was a forged New York State license plate. As a result, Cooley was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, a felony under New York State law, along with several traffic citations related to the alleged violations.

Cooley was issued an appearance ticket and released. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to respond to the charges.









All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
