(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown man has been arrested on attempted murder charges in connection with a 2025 shooting that left a victim with severe injuries on the city’s east side, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Police said Ian N. Sanchez, 24, of Jamestown, was arrested March 6, 2026, following a Chautauqua County indictment stemming from a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of July 24, 2025, near East Second Street and Cheney Street.

Investigators reported that officers responded to the area and located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds that caused severe injuries. The victim was provided medical assistance as police began an investigation into the shooting.

Authorities previously arrested Xavier M. Ramos, 23, also of Jamestown, on July 25, 2025, in connection with the incident. Ramos was charged with Assault in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and he remains incarcerated, according to police.

Following continued investigation into the case, Sanchez was indicted and taken into custody. He faces charges of Attempted Murder and Assault in the First Degree.

Sanchez was arraigned March 9, 2026, in Chautauqua County Court. The court ordered him held on $100,000 bail and remanded him to the Chautauqua County Jail pending further proceedings. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
