(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK, NY — A 20-year-old Dunkirk man was arrested Saturday afternoon following a police pursuit on an electric bicycle through multiple city streets.

Dunkirk Police said officers from the 3-11 patrol observed Bryan Colon-Garcia committing a traffic violation on an E-bike around 4:51 p.m. on March 14. When officers attempted to stop him, he fled, riding recklessly through Main Street, Cliffstar Drive, East 2nd Street, and Lake Shore Drive.

During the pursuit, Colon-Garcia allegedly violated several traffic laws related to E-bike operation and disrupted normal vehicle traffic. He eventually abandoned the bike and continued on foot near Lake Shore Drive East and Beaver Street, temporarily evading officers.

Police established a perimeter in the area where Colon-Garcia was last seen. After a brief investigation, he was located at his residence and taken into custody without further incident.

Colon-Garcia was charged with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, disorderly conduct, and multiple traffic violations. He was released on an appearance ticket in accordance with New York State bail reform regulations. His case will be handled in Dunkirk City Court before Honorable Judge Kuzdale. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
