(WNY News Now) – Dunkirk, NY — A 42-year-old Dunkirk resident was charged after allegedly shoplifting from a local store and resisting police officers during his arrest on February 28, 2026.
Dunkirk Police responded around 4:15 p.m. to a report of a past-tense shoplifting incident. Surveillance video identified the suspect as Daniel Jennings, who reportedly concealed merchandise and left the store without paying.
Officers located Jennings a short distance from the store. When instructed to stop, he allegedly resisted arrest. He was charged with petit larceny (PL 155.25), obstruction of governmental administration (PL 195.05), and resisting arrest (PL 205.30).
Jennings was issued an appearance ticket in accordance with New York State bail reform and is scheduled to appear before Dunkirk City Court Judge Kuzdale. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
