(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 46-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody Monday afternoon after police identified him during a proactive patrol and discovered an active warrant and suspected drugs.

Jamestown Police report that officers were conducting a GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) detail on March 30, 2026, at approximately 4:53 p.m. in the area of North Main Street and West 6th Street when they observed James G. Hall walking nearby.

According to authorities, officers were aware that Hall had an active bench warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident.

During the arrest, officers allegedly found a small quantity of methamphetamine in Hall’s possession. He was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree in addition to the outstanding bench warrant.

Hall was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
