(WNY News Now) – OLEAN, N.Y. — A Wellsville woman faces charges after a traffic stop in the City of Olean led to the discovery of a suspended license and suspected narcotics, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
Cassie J. Degerstedt, 32, of Wellsville, was taken into custody at approximately 12:02 a.m. on March 31, 2026, following a traffic stop on Buffalo Street in Olean.
Authorities report that an investigation determined Degerstedt was operating a vehicle with a suspended New York State driver’s license. Deputies also allege she was in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine at the time of the stop.
Degerstedt was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.
She was transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Olean Substation for processing. Following processing, Degerstedt was released with an appearance ticket.
She is scheduled to appear in Olean City Court at a later date to answer the charges.
All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
