(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A Jamestown man was arrested Saturday evening following a reported weapons incident on the city’s south side.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded at approximately 6:15 p.m. on April 4 to a residence after receiving a report of a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers identified 35-year-old Demetrius K. Goldsmith as the suspect.
Police say Goldsmith allegedly menaced a victim with an axe during an altercation. Officers located him inside the residence and took him into custody without further incident. Authorities also discovered Goldsmith had an outstanding arrest warrant through Jamestown City Court.
Goldsmith was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment. He faces charges of Menacing in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, in addition to the outstanding warrant. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
