(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A Jamestown woman is facing a petit larceny charge after police responded to a reported shoplifting in progress at a local retail store.
The Town of Ellicott Police Department reports that Nayda I. Dejesus, 59, of Jamestown, was charged with petit larceny on April 6, 2026, following an incident at Target.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the store for a report of shoplifting in progress. An investigation determined that Dejesus allegedly left the store without paying for merchandise that had been placed inside her personal bag.
Dejesus was issued an appearance ticket at the scene. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer to the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
