(WNY News Now) – OLEAN, N.Y. — A 32-year-old woman was issued an appearance ticket after authorities say she entered a retail store in Olean despite being previously banned from the property.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a complaint around 12:20 p.m. on April 8 at Walmart, located at 101 East State Street. Following an investigation, officials allege that Rebecca J. Preischel, who is listed as homeless in the Olean area, had entered the store after being prohibited from the premises weeks earlier.

Preischel was charged with one count of Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree under New York State Penal Law. She was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Allegany Town Court at a later date.

The Olean Police Department assisted in the investigation. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the initial complaint or the prior ban.

All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
