(WNY News Now) – Allegany, NY — A 32-year-old Allegany woman was taken into custody Tuesday evening on an out-of-state felony warrant and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail pending extradition proceedings.

On April 7, 2026, at approximately 8:53 p.m., members of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Sara R. Ainsley-Gilbert, 32, at her residence at 1865 Willard Street in Allegany, New York.

Authorities confirmed that Ainsley-Gilbert had an active felony arrest warrant issued out of Erie County, Pennsylvania. She was taken into custody without incident and charged locally as a Fugitive of Justice, an out-of-state crime classification used when an individual is sought by authorities in another jurisdiction.

Following her arrest, Ainsley-Gilbert was transported to Allegany Town Court for arraignment. After court proceedings, she was ordered remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail, where she will remain in custody while awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
