(WNY News Now) – A Cheektowaga man was taken into custody early Monday after Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies discovered an active bench warrant during a traffic stop in the Town of Ashford.
According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 1:09 a.m. on April 13, 2026, on Connoisarauley Road in Ashford.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop and, during the course of their investigation, identified the driver as 40-year-old Andrew J. Clark of Cheektowaga. Authorities determined that Clark had an active bench warrant issued by the Amherst Police Department.
Clark was taken into custody without incident. Following his arrest, he was turned over to the Amherst Police Department for further proceedings related to the warrant.
He is charged under New York Criminal Procedure Law Section 530.70(3), which pertains to bench warrants.
The arrest was carried out by Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies. No additional details were released.
Authorities remind the public that all charges are accusations and that individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
