(WNY News Now) – A 49-year-old Florida man was taken into custody in Charlton, Georgia, on Saturday morning on a bench warrant issued by the Cattaraugus County Court in New York, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reported that on April 11, 2026, at approximately 10:26 a.m., deputies arrested Russell S. Brant, 49, of Lakeland, Florida, following an extradition bench warrant issued by the Cattaraugus County Court.

According to the report, Brant was located and taken into custody at the Charlton County Sheriff’s Office in Charlton, Georgia, where local authorities assisted in executing the warrant. Deputies transported Brant back to the Cattaraugus County Jail without incident.

Brant is currently being held pending further court proceedings and is scheduled to appear in Cattaraugus County Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
