(WNY News Now) – OLEAN, N.Y. — A 34-year-old man was issued an appearance ticket after authorities say he entered a Walmart store despite a prior ban.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of Sean D. Dewitt, 34, of the Olean area, following an incident on the morning of April 13, 2026.
According to deputies, the incident occurred at approximately 8:59 a.m. on Washington Street in Olean. Authorities responded to a complaint at Walmart, where it was determined that Dewitt had allegedly entered the store after previously being banned from the property.
Officials said this was the second time Dewitt had returned to the store in violation of the ban.
Dewitt was charged with one count of Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree, a violation of New York State Penal Law.
He was released at the scene with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned in court at a later date.
The case was investigated by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Olean Police Department.
As with all criminal charges, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
