(WNY News Now) – RIPLEY, N.Y. — A Ripley woman is facing a misdemeanor drug charge after deputies responded to a report of a disorderly person Saturday afternoon.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Town of Ripley at approximately 12:42 p.m. on April 18 for a reported disturbance. The individual involved was identified as 64-year-old Cheryl L. Williamson of Ripley.
Authorities said Williamson was located by the Westfield Police Department. Following an investigation, deputies determined that she was in possession of a controlled substance.
Williamson was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor under New York State law.
She was transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, where she was issued an appearance ticket. Williamson is scheduled to appear in the Village of Westfield Court at a later date to answer the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
