(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A Jamestown man has been charged with two counts of petit larceny after an alleged shoplifting incident at a Town of Ellicott business, according to local police.

The Town of Ellicott Police Department reported that officers responded to a shoplifting-in-progress complaint on May 26, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m.

Police allege that Joshua A. Ryan, 37, of Jamestown, exited a store without paying for merchandise. Following an investigation, Ryan was charged with two counts of petit larceny.

Ryan was issued an appearance ticket and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charges.

As with all criminal charges, the allegations against Ryan are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
