(WNY News Now) – A 58-year-old Dunkirk resident was charged with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop in the Town of Hanover on June 13, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies conducted a traffic stop on Allegany Road in the Town of Hanover at approximately 10:56 p.m. on June 13, 2026.

According to authorities, the driver was identified as Michael E. Davis, 58, of Dunkirk. Following an investigation, deputies determined that Davis was allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Davis was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Driving While Intoxicated Per Se, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

After processing, Davis was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date to answer the charges.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
