(WNY News Now) – A 39-year-old Buffalo man was arraigned after police responded to a report of an alleged exposure incident involving a juvenile at Amherst State Park in Williamsville.

Joseph M. Brown Jr., 39, of Buffalo, was arraigned Wednesday in Amherst Town Court on charges stemming from an alleged incident at Amherst State Park on Mill Street.

According to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, police responded to the park shortly before 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, after receiving a 911 call about a suspicious male.

Authorities allege Brown exposed intimate parts of his body in a public place near a juvenile female. The juvenile reportedly did not know Brown.

Police also allege Brown refused officers’ orders and resisted being handcuffed during his arrest.

Brown faces one count each of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, both Class A misdemeanors. He also faces a violation charge of Exposure of a Person.

Brown was released under the supervision of the Erie County Probation Department. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the juvenile.

He is scheduled to return to Amherst Town Court at 10 a.m. Aug. 20 for further proceedings.

If convicted of the highest charge, Brown faces a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Marquez J. Baez of the Justice Courts Bureau.

The Amherst Police Department investigated the incident.

Brown is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
