(WNY News Now) – A 61-year-old Bemus Point man was charged with petit larceny after Town of Ellicott police responded to a reported shoplifting incident at Wegmans.
Town of Ellicott police charged Ronald S. Caldwell, 61, of Bemus Point, with petit larceny following a reported shoplifting incident on July 28, 2026.
Police said they responded to a shoplifting in progress at approximately 2 p.m. Caldwell was accused of leaving the store past the point of sale with merchandise belonging to Wegmans without paying for it.
Caldwell was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charge.
The charge is an allegation, and Caldwell is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
