(WNY News Now) – A Town of Ripley woman was arrested for alleged impaired driving after Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies stopped her for a traffic violation in Westfield on Tuesday night.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Westfield at about 8:42 p.m. Aug. 11 after observing a traffic violation.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver was identified as 43-year-old Shannon M. Smith of the Town of Ripley. An investigation determined that Smith was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. She was later released and charged with speeding in a 55-mph zone, driving while intoxicated (DWI) and DWI per se.

Smith is scheduled to appear in Town of Westfield Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The charges are allegations, and Smith is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
