(WNY News Now) – A 40-year-old Jamestown man was arrested Saturday after police said he provided a false identity during a suspicious person investigation on the city’s South/East Side.

Jamestown Police Department officers responded to an address on the South/East Side at about 10:12 a.m. Aug. 22 for a report of a suspicious person.

According to police, officers made contact with a male subject during the investigation. Police said the man initially provided officers with a false identity.

Officers later confirmed the man was Jonathan B. Yates, 40, of Jamestown. Police said Yates was wanted on a felony arrest warrant issued by Jamestown City Court.

Yates was taken into custody and additionally charged with False Personation.

Police said Yates was being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

The charge is an allegation, and Yates is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
