(WNY News Now) – A 36-year-old Jamestown man faces multiple charges following an injury crash on Peck Settlement Road in the Town of Ellicott last month.

Town of Ellicott Police said Lucas E. Rose, 36, of Jamestown, was charged September 5 in connection with a single-vehicle crash that occurred August 15.

Police responded to the crash on Peck Settlement Road at about 3:37 p.m. after a vehicle left the roadway and struck multiple trees before coming to rest in a wooded area.

According to police, an investigation determined that Rose was allegedly traveling north at an unreasonable speed. Police said he failed to keep right, crossed into the oncoming lane and then left the roadway.

Investigators also determined that Rose was allegedly operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. Police said he was found in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine.

Rose was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, Failure to Keep Right, Driving on the Shoulder and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

An arrest warrant was issued in connection with the investigation. Rose was later arrested on the warrant and released with traffic tickets and an appearance ticket.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charges.

All charges are allegations, and Rose is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
