(WNY News Now) – A 32-year-old Little Valley man was issued an appearance ticket after deputies alleged he contacted a protected person while a full stay-away order of protection was in effect.

Denzell J. Leonard, 32, of Little Valley, was taken into custody Sept. 11 by deputies with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Seneca Nation Allegany Territory.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies allege Leonard called a female twice while he was being held at the Cattaraugus County Jail. The woman was identified as a protected person under a full stay-away order of protection involving Leonard.

The alleged calls reportedly occurred while Leonard was in custody at the jail.

Leonard was escorted from the Cattaraugus County Jail to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, where he was processed and issued an appearance ticket for first-degree criminal contempt.

He is scheduled to appear in Salamanca City Court at a later date.

Following processing, Leonard was returned to the Cattaraugus County Jail.

The allegations have not been adjudicated in court. Leonard is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
