(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was charged with reckless boat operation and boating while impaired by drugs after a navigation complaint on Chautauqua Lake, according to Town of Ellicott Police.
Town of Ellicott Police responded to a report of a boater in distress on Chautauqua Lake in Celoron at about 10:01 a.m. Wednesday, September 2.
According to police, Brandon E. Fogle, 43, of Jamestown, allegedly operated a vessel recklessly before jumping into the lake after he was unable to restart the boat.
Fogle was assisted out of the water. Following an investigation, officers determined he was allegedly under the influence of a drug, police said.
Fogle was charged with reckless operation under the Navigation Law and operating a vessel while ability impaired by drugs.
Police said Fogle was released with traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date.
The charges are allegations. Fogle is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
