(WNY News Now) – A 53-year-old man pleaded guilty to 13 felony counts stemming from a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries reported across Buffalo in September 2025.

Dale E. Gabler, 53, of no permanent address, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Erie County Court to nine counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of attempted second-degree burglary, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal mischief.

According to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, Gabler entered guilty pleas to all charges in the indictment without a reduced plea agreement.

The charges stem from a series of incidents reported between Sept. 4 and Sept. 15, 2025, at residences and other properties throughout the City of Buffalo.

Police first encountered Gabler on Sept. 4, 2025, after responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Babcock Street. Investigators said he was found in possession of a Jeep Grand Cherokee reported stolen from Columbus Parkway, along with several stolen credit cards.

Gabler was arraigned the following day in Buffalo City Court on charges related to criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance but later failed to appear in court, resulting in a bench warrant.

Prosecutors said additional burglaries occurred following his release. The alleged crimes included entries into homes on Middlesex Road, Plymouth Avenue, Niagara Street, Richmond Avenue, Hallam Road, Lincoln Parkway and Fordham Drive.

Items reported stolen included bicycles, electronics, credit cards, car keys, an electric scooter, clothing, jewelry and other property. In one case, investigators said a vehicle was stolen after the defendant allegedly entered a residence.

Two attempted burglaries on Lincoln Parkway and another attempted burglary involving a garage on Fordham Drive were also included in the indictment.

Gabler was arrested Sept. 15, 2025, after police said he was confronted by homeowners during a burglary on Amherst Street. Investigators said several stolen credit cards were found in his possession and that electronics taken from the home had been moved into a vehicle belonging to the victims.

Following the arrest, prosecutors sought to revoke Gabler’s release, citing the additional alleged crimes committed while he was free on his own recognizance. The court subsequently revoked his release, and he has remained held without bail.

Gabler is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 12, 2026. Prosecutors said he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison as a second violent felony offender.

The investigation involved members of the Buffalo Police Department. Assistant District Attorney Rachel L. Schepart of the Felony Trials Bureau is prosecuting the case.
